Everyone knows that a summer spent in the city of Philadelphia is far from boring. Located on the Delaware river, Philly is a city rich with history and full of activities for all ages. When the weather gets warm, there's no better city to be in than Philadelphia.
1. Spruce Street Harbor Park
This iconic park allows visitors to swing hammocks while enjoying some of their favorite Philly eats. I suggest going at night when the weather is cooler and the park is all lit up.
2. Center City Sips
If you're of age, you can enjoy half priced drinks at various bars throughout Center City. This happy hour goes on every Wednesday this summer from 5-7 p.m.
3. Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest
Perfect for the kids and adults. The RiverRink features mini golf, bowling alleys, an arcade and even the city's first outdoor roller rink!
4. Outdoor Concerts
The music scene in Philly is definitely not one to overlook. Big names like Jimmy Buffet, John Mayer, and Incubus will all be making appearances in Philly area concerts. Jay Z even founded an music festival called Made in America which takes place on the Ben Franklin Parkway. This year's headliners include The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, and Migos. Jay Z himself will also be making an appearance!
5. Eat!!
This one isn't really specific to the summer time, but who doesn't love to eat? Philly is known for their cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, and "wooder ice". Isn't everything ten times better when you can enjoy it outside in the warm sun?
6. Night Market Philadelphia
This celebration of food and music runs monthly from June through September. Locations vary so check their website to see where they'll be this month!
7. Shakespeare in Clark Park
For all you theater fans, head out to Clark Park in West Philly from July 26-30 to watch professional actors bring Shakespeare classics to life.
8. The Oval+
This pop-up outdoor space allows visitors to enjoy giant versions of games such as chess, ping pong, and mini golf. It's just steps away from the art museum and also features a lounge with various cold brews and tasty bites from local food trucks.
9. The Zoo
The Philadelphia Zoo is open all summer long! Who wouldn't love spending the day with some cute furry animals?
There are endless possibilities this summer in Philly, go out and enjoy!
