If you are anything like me, you probably let your passport expire because you figured you were not going anywhere anytime soon; however, you probably are in desperate need of a new one due to a last minute, spontaneous trip. Here are some things you need to know before you expedite your passport:

1. You can’t just go anywhere to get your passport expedited.

You have to go to a special passport agency to get your passport expedited. Usually, big hub cities have a place to go. Check out the U.S. Department of State’s website for a list of agencies.

2. You have to schedule an appointment.

Unfortunately, you cannot just walk in and ask for a passport. In order to make an appointment, you can call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778. They are available 24/7.

3. Remember to bring certain documents.

In order to obtain your passport, you need the following documents: your confirmation number, birth certificate, driver’s license, photocopy of said license, proof of travel (if you are traveling in two weeks or less), completed forms, a form of payment and passport photos…

4. Do not forget a passport photo!

I had no idea I needed passport photos until I double checked with someone. You can get these made fast at Walgreens or CVS for a reasonable price.

5. Arrive early for your appointment.

Waiting can be the hardest part. I do not know if this works for everyone, but in my case, I arrived an hour early and was done before my actual appointment started. Once your number is called, it is a quick process.

6. There is an extra fee for making the magic happen.

Be prepared to pay a handsome fee for the convenience of expediting your passport. I paid roughly $200 when it was all said and done.

7. You most likely will not walk out with your passport in hand.

Unless you are traveling in three days or less or there is a serious situation, you will have to wait two or three days for it to arrive by mail.

8. It is worth the extra money to get it in time.

It may hurt the bank account to pay the extra fee, but it is worth it to know your trip will not be in jeopardy.

Expediting your passport can be a long, stressful process, but hopefully, these tips will help you feel a little better about the process. Safe travels!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
