8 Things All BLONDIES Know To Be True

I'm blonde in the hair and in the heart.

8 Things All BLONDIES Know To Be True

1. You stick out in crowds

So I may stick out partially because I'm 5'10" and loud, but at least part of the reason I stick out is my hair; however, this comes in handy when I want someone's attention.

2. You get a dope nickname just for existing

I've decided to embrace my nickname, Blondie (It's not like I had a choice, my family has been calling me that for longer than I can remember), but its always fun to have a go-to nickname for t-shirts like Blondie or Rapunzel.

3. Blonde Jokes... All of them...

So I may be a bit of a ditz (I like to say I'm so happy sometimes it makes me make mistakes), but every time I do something dumb like forget the password on my phone, or forget to turn my car off before I get out, the blonde jokes come flooding in. Well jokes on you people, I meant to wipe all the contacts out of my phone... again... *cough*

4. Your luscious locks took some time to grow in

My mom always teases that she had to "lick and stick" bows to my head when I was a youngin' because I didn't have hair until I was pushing two. It may have taken some time for the glorious mane I have today to establish itself, but it was worth the wait.

5. And once it does, everyone wants to touch it

Once my hair finally did come in, I was platinum blonde for a few years, and this started the "let me touch your hair" phase that still rears its ugly head from time to time. I still can't walk into a salon without someone asking to feel my hair. I've had entire conversations with people while they pat my head. It doesn't bother me too much and I always allow people to touch my hair if they ask nicely, but its just a little odd to have strangers on the street ask to massage your scalp.

6. Everyone wants to know if that's your real hair color

Yeah, this is my real hair color, but even if it wasn't, I probably wouldn't share. I've actually never dyed my hair. Sometimes I really want to lighten my hair or put some pink in it, but I'm a little terrified it will never go back and I like my natural color.

7. You're so fabulous, everyone wants to steal your color

The reason so many people ask us natural Blondies if our color is real is so many people dye their hair blonde. Our color is so awesome everyone wants some.

8. Everyone Underestimates You

This is actually my favorite part about being a Blondie. So many people have made comments meant to demean me based solely on my hair color. No, I'm not kidding. I've had several people say things like "Wow, it's like you're smart or something" when they find out I'm an honors student, or do well in school, or even just get a question right in class. The worst someone has ever said to me about my hair color is, "You should really dye your hair because the color makes people think you're dumb." While that last one was meant to be malicious, I found it sorta funny. I mean really? You think I'm dumb because of my hair? I'm sure that theory is scientifically sound. And you know what? I love it when people underestimate me, because when I'm successful it feels that much better. People make assumptions about me based on the way I look, and I say, let them. What other people think about me has no affect on my intelligence, my worth, or my success. So yeah, in a twisted way I love being underestimated.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
