College can be both exciting and terrifying, exhilarating and immobilizing. Yet, these are the best years of our lives. For those of us seeking to further our degrees, school has just begun anew and it's time for a fresh start. To commemorate this new beginning, let's take a look of the first week of the semester through memes and gifs.

1. Move in day: Welcome to your home away from home! Guess what's going to take up you're entire day? Driving, moving all your stuff from you're car to your room, situating the furniture, unpacking everything....It's a long process that feels like it'll never end. Once you have almost everything put away though, it starts to really feel like home.

2. Mail: You can't wait for that first piece of mail to come in. It's always a personal highlight.

3. Class: You're getting into the swing of things and really get an idea of what your classes will be like. Whether you dread them or love them, classes are a vital part of college. Without them, we wouldn't have a "logical" reason to be reading or writing until two in the morning...

4. Papers, papers, and more papers....Let's face it. The first week of class is exciting because you are looking forward to a great semester, but at the same time terrifying. Those syllabus days mean that you don't have any homework to prepare for class, but you get to find out just how much work you'll be doing over the semester. It can get a lot a bit overwhelming...

5. Procrastination: Don't start. Procrastination is probably the worst habit to pick up in college. Fight it with everything you have. For the sake of your sanity and less sleepless nights, don't procrastinate. It's too late for me...save yourself....

5. Late-nights: Usually during the first week of class, the late nights start because of hanging out with friends you haven't seen all summer or new friends you've made this year. But you better get used to it because those late nights are going to increase in frequency...Especially if you procrastinate on those papers....

6. Late-night snacks: You guessed it. The later you stay up, the long you go without having had a meal. The longer you go, the more hungry you get. Which of course leads to late night snacks, which, if unchecked, could lead to the infamous Freshman Fifteen.

7. Homesickness: For those of us who are used to prolonged college living, homesickness isn't much of an issue. However, it still happens, especially for freshmen. A lot of them have never been away from home long enough to experience homesickness. I certainly hadn't before I started college. That first week, it's not uncommon for the homesickness to start setting in.

8.Routine: Once you get into the swing of things, it'll be a lot easier to want to procrastinate, but you have an idea of how much work you have to do on a daily basis. Of course, if you're work load is heavy, that won't help anything at all.....But fear not! You made it through the first week, you can make it through the rest!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
