The end of spring break is bittersweet. Vacation or not, you’re most likely tired from either partying or doing absolutely nothing, broke, and ready to get back into your normal routine. Then reality hits you like a pile of bricks. Exams, group projects, and presentations are all waiting for you when you return to school and you feel the pit at the bottom of your stomach and are suddenly filled with dread. After being teased with a little taste of freedom, you’re more than likely counting down the weeks until the school year is over and summer break begins.

If you’re in the midst of planning your summer travels or need a little inspiration on where to go, the following cities are hidden gems in the U.S. that will have your friends saying #VacationGoals.

Coeur d’Alene, ID

Idaho may not be your first thought when it comes to summer travel destinations, but don’t judge a book by its cover. Coeur d’Alene, also known as “Lake City” has some of the most beautiful scenery out there.

Grand Canyon National Park, AZ

While the Grand Canyon isn’t a hidden gem, it’s a summer travel destination everyone should make a point to visit. It’s one of the most iconic national parks in the country and was voted as one of the top 10 cities with the best views.

Charleston, SC

Break out your preppy summer dresses and southern drawl. Charleston is known for its cobblestone streets and pastel painted houses on Rainbow Row.

Big Sur, CA

If you're wanting to hike, camp, or simply relax on the remote beaches alongside the pacific ocean, Big Sur is the perfect place for you.

Anchorage, AK

Craving adventure? Anchorage is sure to deliver as it’s known for its wilderness, glaciers, and mountains.

Santa Fe, NM

Rich in culture and known for its Pueblo-style architecture, and for being one of the largest art markets in the U.S., Santa Fe won’t disappoint.

The Outer Banks, NC

Whether you want to relax alongside the beaches of the Atlantic ocean, visit the largest lighthouse in the country, or take a trip to the sand dunes, The Outer Banks is the perfect coastal, and not so crowded, destination.

Philadelphia, PA

Love the city life but don’t want to deal with the crowds of NYC, Chicago or Los Angeles? Philadelphia might be the place for you. It's also rich in history as it's home to many American revolutionary sites.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
