The end of the semester has approached and summer is just within reach. There is just one thing standing in between you and days spent out by the pool—finals. You’re trapped inside the library with your nose in the books during sunny days when you could be sunbathing and having a good time with friends. As you study for finals, you’ll go through several stages, as evidenced by Jessica Day's life.
Many of us have just an utter hatred for studying. You may begin by complaining to everyone around you about how much you have to study or how many flashcards need to be made. You mope around and make grunts while avoiding actually studying.
Eventually you’ll pull out the syllabus and see that the final exam will be a 200 multiple choice question exam. Doing some quick math, you realize that even on your best guessing game, you won’t score high enough to receive a passing grade.
You pull out your notes and begin studying. You quickly realize what you’re studying is dumb and pointless. You conclude that you most likely will never use it in the real world and wonder why you’re even learning this.
After much defeat in studying for your first final, you put it aside and tell yourself you’ll finish studying for that later. However you discover that you now are faced with even harder subjects to study for and even more flashcards to make.
Its time for your midweek/ middle of the night/ low on sleep/ over stressed /it's just 10 a.m. on Tuesday freak out session.
Trying to be resourceful, you study with a friend in your class. What you find, though, is that they have absolutely no problem with the subject matter and speak 1,000 miles per hour. In the end you learn nothing and now have a headache.
Eventually studying becomes too much. The lack of sleep and stress gets to your head and you begin to wonder. What if I don’t pass my finals? I won’t get a job after college, I won't become successful, I won't make a lot of money, nobody will want to be with me, I will be single, unmarried forever, then I will be old. Oh my...
Don’t you worry, finals is only a week long. And after all the stress, lack of sleep, unhealthy amount of caffeine ingested, and long nights, you can finally sit back and enjoy summer!
