You've always been a little different from other people your age. Maybe it's because you're an old soul. Do any of these following situations apply?
1. Everyone is always telling you how "mature" you are.
You don’t go out of your way to come off this way, it just happens naturally. You think rationally and act sensibly. Sometimes it’s difficult for you to understand why your peers have so many issues with discipline and make poor choices. You may even be your parent’s “good” child. You’ve just always seemed to know what to do or not do. The line between right and wrong has always been pretty clear for you.
2. You don't always like doing the things your peers do.
You often pass on invitations to go out. Partying and drinking aren’t really your thing. You’d rather snuggle up with a good book or sit back and enjoy the company of a few good friends. You know this is where the real memories and fulfillment are, so why waste time doing those other things?
3. Your music choices may seem a bit dated to your friends.
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift are great, but you like the old stuff, too. Aerosmith and Journey are just as relevant to you and take up just as much space in your music library. Your friends may be shocked when you start singing lyrics to songs they’ve never heard. Sometimes, mainstream just doesn’t cut it.
4. You don't mind staying in.
You don’t have to be on the go constantly to be happy. A relaxing night in with a movie or board games is enjoyable. Staying home with your parents isn’t the worst option, either. Sometimes, you’d prefer it to what your friends are doing, actually.
5. People often come to you for advice.
When your friends are struggling, they often come to you for support or advice. Your rational thinking allows you to offer great insights and your compassion is comforting. You’re able to explain things in new ways and offer fresh perspectives, and your friends appreciate you for it.
6. You don't care about being "in style."
You wear and buy what you like, not what’s trending. You don’t mind standing out from the status quo; you know the only person that you have to impress is yourself. So what if your things aren’t in style? You like them, and that’s all that matters.
7. You don't have to be in a relationship to feel complete.
Your friends may worry a bit too much about finding the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend. Sometimes, it seems like they think they need to be in a relationship to be fully happy. You know, however, that happiness comes from within and that you’ll never be happy with someone else unless you’re happy with yourself first. If you find someone, then great, but it’s not your top priority.
8. You believe in something more.
You know there has to be more to life than just what you see. You feel a calling in your soul that can't be fulfilled with day-to-day life. You believe in something more, whatever that may mean to you personally.
