New Year's resolutions. Three words that sound like a great idea until you realize how hard it's going to be to actually follow through with them. Last year, I decided to take my resolutions more seriously and as I'm writing this on NYE, I can say I actually followed through with someone them. As I prepare myself for this new year, I have come up with a list of 8 reachable resolutions for myself and maybe you too!

1. Continue to journal.

Last year, I told myself I was going to journal whenever I could and I actually did it. It most definitely was not every night, but it felt great when I had time to just sit back and write. This year, I want to continue my journal and also start a new one just focused on my experiences with God. I know I can keep my old journal up since I did it last year, but hopefully adding this new one will challenge me and help me grow in my relationship with God.

2. Drink more water.

I am trying to stay positive and focus on drinking more water rather than cutting something out. By drinking more water, I hopefully won't feel a need for soda as much as I used to. There are so many benefits of drinking water daily.

3. Stay organized.

I already consider myself more organized than many people, but I think there is always room for improvement! I know I will always have my messy days but as I start to be more independent, I need to learn how to keep things clean and organized so I don't always have to call my mom when I forgot where something was.

4. Focus more on school.

I think I had a pretty good first semester considering how much adjusting I had to do, but now that I am in the groove, there are no more excuses! I don't want to say "earn a 4.0" because I don't want to let myself down if I don't, but I think it's easily obtainable if I just tell myself to focus more on school.

5. Exercise more.

Pushing myself to lose weight is so negative and only focuses on 1 benefit of exercise. I know I will be happier and healthier if I start to run a couple days a week and the more I do it, the easier it will be.

6. Make lists.

There is always so much going on, it can be easy to forget about a small class assignment, or paying someone back. I know writing things down will help organize my thoughts and plans and make sure I don't forget anything important!

7. Start a regular sleep schedule.

I stay up way to late and end up tired and cranky the next day, which is easily fixable. Considering the fact that I have all 8am classes next semester, getting into a routine of going to sleep early every night will definitely change my attitude and hopefully help me do better in my classes

8. Spend less time on social media.

Social media is great for staying in touch with old friends and seeing what everyone is up to, but I know I spend way too much time worrying about what's going on in other peoples lives rather than my own. I know going it up entirely will be next to impossible for my, so I am making it my goal to spend less time checking it each day.

There you have it! 8 totally doable resolutions that anyone can do! It's about staying positive and instead of cutting things out completely, focusing on what you can add or do more of to change your life for the better. Happy 2018 y'all!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
