We've all been to the point in college where we finally move out of the dorms and into an apartment or house with your friends. Thankfully, I am passed the apartment stage and am on to moving into a house with my friends. The biggest debate right now between us roommates is whether or not I should get a dog. So without further delay, here are my reasons for why getting a dog isn't the worst idea ever.

1. They are your "fitness motivator."

This is one of my favorite reasons. Current pet owners already know how important it is to get their furry friend out for a walk... or run! By having a dog, it will push you to get out of the house at least once a day to get your dog the proper exercise they need!

2. Your new title is now "dog mom."

Having a dog is comparable to having a small child. You are responsible for teaching it right from wrong, when to eat, and where to go potty. You know all the fun stuff? How much more rewarding can it get? I can hardly wait to teach my future dog all the cool tricks!

3. They make you smile!

Tell me what else can put a smile on your face like the way your pup looks at you, and jumps with excitement when you return home from a long day at work or school!

4. They know how to cheer you up when you're sad.

Any dog owner will agree that dogs have a "sixth sense". Dogs have the awesome ability to adjust their mood to provide comfort to their owner when they notice they are upset or are experiencing anxiety.

5. They are your own security system.

I grew up with two German shepherds and I can tell you no one would mess with our house knowing that we had the dogs we did. Any large dog can act as a form of protection for their owners or members of their "pack".

6. They teach you how to budget.

Bet this is one you didn't think of, huh? By taking into consideration the costs of food, reoccurring vet bills, toys, grooming, and other miscellaneous costs, this will make you learn how to budget your money responsibly. You will be able to put your money where it needs to be first before blowing all of it at the bar on the weekend.

7. They are the perfect reason to cancel plans.

Didn't want to go to the mall with your friends? Didn't know how else to say no? Look no further, you have the perfect excuse!

8. They are the perfect shotgun rider.

What's more perfect than taking your pup for a ride while jamming to your favorite tunes!?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
