Whenever I tell someone that my hair is naturally straight, they almost always reply with something along the lines of, "Oh, you're so LUCKY! I wish I had straight hair. It takes me hours to straighten my hair!" I don't 100% agree. Here's why:
1. Naturally straight is only mostly straight.
I take a shower, dry my hair, and then end up with mostly straight hair; except for the one spot that NEVER straightens all the way. And the second I tuck my hair behind my ear, there's a wave there too.
2. It takes FOREVER to curl.
I take at least two hours, plus preparing the night before, and an entire bottle of hairspray just to make my hair somewhat curly... and then it falls out within a couple of hours.
3. It falls out of everything.
Braids, ponytails, headbands... I have to buy the unwrapped ponytail holders to even have a chance of not having it fall out.
4. It gets greasy really quickly.
And there's no hiding it. I have to wash my hair every day, and sometimes, that's still not enough. I can't just use dry shampoo in between washes. I use dry shampoo in addition to washes sometimes.
5. It's not interesting
There's nothing fun about it. It just kind of sits on my head and hangs down and that's about it.
6. I still have to straighten it
It takes me about 5 minutes, sure. But it's still not sticking straight when I wake up.
7. It still gets frizzy when it's humid
The higher the humidity, the poofier the hair. It's science.
8. If I start sweating, there's no way to hide it.
My hair instantly clumps up and looks greasy. Not exactly flattering.
So to all of the curly-headed people out there wishing they had curly hair, you know what they say... "The grass isn't always greener on the other side."
