Hello, everyone. It is a crisp September morning and you know what that means...IT'S FALL...almost. Okay, so maybe the September equinox hasn't happened yet, but that hasn't stopped the pumpkin spice junkies from crawling out of their pumpkin patches and into the nearest Starbucks (pumpkin spice chai tea latte anyone?) The first semester of college is in full swing and with the fading of both summer and my tan, the excitement of autumn and all its beauty is fully upon us. Halloween, haunted houses, discounted candy, Thanksgiving, Football(?), pumpkin patches, pumpkin spice, pumpkin anything, Hay rides, did I mention pumpkin?? Okay, okay. I'm good. I'm calm. As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to *Fall* in love (see what I did there?) and here are a few of my favorites:
1. Halloween!! Let's Get Spooky!
Drum roll, please....IT'S MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY. With the changing of seasons, we discover the spookiest and the best of holidays is right on our doorstep, asking for candy. Masks, costumes, Kit Kats, scary movies--does it get any better?!
2. Discounted Candy!
No, I'm not so sadistic as to say that candy corn is a reason to love Fall because frankly, it tastes like melted candles mixed with Splenda. NO, what I mean is after Halloween all candy is super discounted and you better believe I am hitting up the nearest Walmart to buy some Reese's Pieces and Kit Kats. Who needs trick or treating anymore? I am a gal on a budget.
3. Be Gone, Chub Rub!
High waisted shorts are cute but the red ugly marks they leave on my inner thighs are not. Beauty is pain, ladies, but thankfully fall is the anticipated season of the year where we get both fashion and comfort. So, goodbye shorts and hello pants! Leggings and oversized sweaters for days, am I right?
4. Pumpkin Everything
Pumpkin pie, pumpkin candles, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin chai, actual pumpkins, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin potpourri, pumpkin sweaters--the possibilities are endless. Next thing we know, Sonic will be coming out with a pumpkin flavored slushy. It may be cliche, but I love pumpkin flavored anything and it's about that time; it's safe to say I am PUMPED.
5. Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving
GUYS. Even though Thanksgiving is holiday based on false pretenses, you can't beat the food! Not only that, being in college has led to the wonderful tradition of Friendsgiving--the wonderful opportunity of cramming into a friend's apartment to enjoy cheap stuffing and each others company. Not to mention, my family is HUGE and Thanksgiving is a day long event full of food, my dad's famous bourbon chocolate pecan pie, card games movies. Ugh, fall is the best.
6. Football(?)
I guess some people are into this sport called Football, and it takes up their entire existence from September to January. Totally great. I would be considered a monster not to include such an American tradition. Not my thing, but I totally respect who you are as a person if football is what you eat, live, and breathe. Go Bears.
7. The Leaves Change Colors!
My face as I walk to class in the Southwest of Missouri. Trees are EVERYWHERE around here and it's one of the most beautiful sights to see the trees slowly turn their leaves. I firmly believe you can't be human if you don't find the scenery of fall, beautiful.
8. Great Instagram Pictures
Whether it's pictures of dogs, your gal pals, pumpkin patches, hay rides, haunted houses, pumpkin spice lattes, or the cute new booties you're rocking, fall is the end all be all for Instagram material.
In conclusion, order your pumpkin spice latte, throw on a cute pair of boots, grab your phone and enjoy all the best that Fall has to offer! Cheers!
