8 Promises to My Future Little

Future little, I'm already in love with you.

Dear Future Little,

Ever since I became part of the Greek Life family, I have dreamed of taking my very own little under my wing. And that's you. Future Little, when that time comes, I promise you these ten things:

1. To shower you with gifts and love during reveal week.

Future little, be prepared. The week leading up to reveal will be better than your birthday, I promise. I will make sure to spoil you with all my love and all the sparkles, glitter, and DIY crafts my balance can afford. Be prepared for a week full of suspense, but also a week full of anonymous love.

2. To be there whenever you're not happy.

Anxiety? I've got you. Guy broke your heart? I'll punch them in the gut. Future little, please understand that I will basically be your personal bodyguard, always there to guard you when you're in need. I will forever be your #1 fan, and no one else even compares.

3. To make time for you.

Sure, I may be busy, but never will I ever fill my schedule up so much that I would have no time to see you. It's important to me to be a good role model, and to have you look up to me, so when you take a little of your own, you will do the same.

4. To be there and listen to you rant.

There have been multiple times where I needed to rant to someone else, and it helps magnificently. I want to be that person who is there to do just that, future little. I don't care whether it's because of a life changing situation or a minor annoyance. Just do it.

5. To annoy you.

You may find me just randomly texting you at any time, and that is because I will probably miss you. I want to talk to you, future little (I can't wait until you're actually my little). Even though you will most likely be younger than me, I will constantly want to annoy you with anything from stupid questions or if I need your opinion. It's because I love you.

6. To be your personal cheerleader.

I will be there to reassure you how amazing of a human being you are and how much I believe in you. I will be there to congratulate you on all of your accomplishments and such. I will be so unbelievably proud of you, that I may as well write your name on my forehead.

7. To make fun of you.

The best relationships are the ones where you are sarcastically mean to each other. I'm well known to be a pretty sarcastic person, so good luck. No worries, it means that we're close and that I love you.

8. To be close with you for a lifetime.

Even though I will graduate, I promise to not only stay in touch, but still have a close relationship with you. I don't think I could stand losing my little. Our relationship will last beyond the college years for sure, and I guarantee it will last a lifetime.

So, Future Little, there you have it. From the moment of reveal and on, you'll have me glued to your side.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
