I have read a lot of thoughtful thought pieces in the wake of the 2016 Presidential Election. It’s hard to know how to act and how to react. I am white, but I am also a queer women. I fear that my rights, and the rights of millions of fellow Americans are going to be stripped away. I don’t know what is the best way to react, but instead of writing another thoughtful thought piece, I am going to provide some information about eight amazing organizations that will fight for me and all of our fellow Americans.
1. ACLU.
The American Civil Liberties Union is a nonpartisan nonprofit that works to preserve and defend the individual rights and liberties of all persons in the U.S.A. as guaranteed by the Constitution.

The Feeding America is a network of food banks throughout the nation.

3. The Innocence Project.
The Innocence Project works to exonerate wrongly convicted people with DNA testing, as well as reforms the criminal justice system, in order to prevent further injustice.

4. Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit that provides reproductive health services in the U.S. and globally, and is the single largest provider of reproductive health services in the U.S.

5. RAINN.
RAINN is an anti-sexual assault organization working with local rape crisis centers across the U.S. RAINN also operates a National Sexual Assault Hotline that is free and confidential.

6. Human Rights Campaign.
The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization in the U.S.

7. Emily's List.
Emily’s List is a political action committee (PAC) with 3 million members that helps to elect pro-choice Democratic women into office.

I am not sure what the best course of action is in the coming months and the next four years of a Trump presidency, but this is what I am doing now: I am going to work. I would love it if some of you reading this joined me.
