There's no place like home. There's no place like home.

Even though I’ve moved around my whole life, a bulk of my childhood was spent in Ohio, not to mention it’s where I was born. Ohio has always held a very special place in my heart. It’ll always be home. But there are still some things that only true Ohioans will understand, and here are eight of them.

1. The OSU vs. Michigan game is as big (or bigger than) the Super Bowl.

You're not a real Buckeye unless you're decked out in scarlet and grey from head-to-toe on game day. Go big or go home.

2. You’re not caught dead in blue and gold.

This is the ultimate sin of an Ohioan... even if it's done by accident.

3. It’s called pop here.

Not soda. Not coke. Just pop.

4. No, I don’t have an accent.

If you want to get technical, everyone has an accent. But any Ohioan will swear that they do not have an accent. To most Ohioans, it's only an accent if you say "y'all." And by that logic, I have a terrible accent.

5. Spelling with your arms is key… O-H-I-O.

"Where are you from?"

*Immediately starts spelling Ohio with arms*

6. Trying to get into the ‘Shoe only to not only see the best team play, but the best band in the land.

There is absolutely nothing greater than seeing script Ohio.

Not to mention, seeing all the amazing things the Ohio State University Marching Band can do. Harry Potter AND football? YES, PLEASE!

7. What are snow days?

Literally. When I went to school in Ohio, snow days were few and far in between. As kids, we were lucky enough to get a two hour delay... and then they would cancel recess. The travesty it was for a ten year old.

8. You either love or hate Skyline Chile. There is no in between.

One of the most debatable restaurants in Ohio is Skyline. Take my word for it, it's gross. But to so many other people, Skyline is their favorite. You either love it or you hate it. Chili on top of spaghetti? No, thank you.

9. Cedar Point.

Home to the biggest roller coasters and the most amazing views. Plus you can see Canada from the top of the Farris Wheel on a clear day.

From the moment an Ohioan is born, they bleed scarlet and gray. We stay true to our home colors, and loyal to our homes. We complain about the snow, and look forward to spring break in Florida. We want to travel the world, but we always return home. And there is truly no place like home. Whether it's Skyline, snow days, or football, something always brings me home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
