Spring semester is over and summer is upon us! It’s time to make the most out of the next four months. Pack your bags and don’t forget to fill up the gas tank. We’re finally free to do whatever we please. So, here are the eight things I’m trying to cross off my bucket list this summer.
1. Going to the beach
I managed to go the beach once last year. I may not be able to stay for more than two hours without fearing a bad sunburn, but when you live so close, why not go?
2. Taking Loki and Luigi to the "bark" and beach
The park ("bark") is the perfect place to take your pups. They get to meet new people, smell new things and get some exercise. Luigi has only been once and, well, we need Loki to learn how to go for a walk around the block first.
What’s better than the "bark"? The beach! Luigi met the "bark" for the first time this winter, and I think it’s time for him to meet sand and the ocean. It’s a giant pool; what’s not to love?
3. Going on hikes
Where there is the ocean on one side, there are woods on the other. I really need to get myself back in shape, and why not do it in the middle of the woods? I’ve always loved hiking, but sometimes it’s a pain just to sit in my backyard during the summer. I get so used to being lazy that it’s hard to snap out of it.
4. Kickboxing
With a temper like mine, I’m surprised I haven’t already started kickboxing. It’s a full body workout and it lets me get out some frustration. Sign me up.
5. Going to a dermatologist
I’ve written two articles centered around face care: why do it, and the products I use. But I’ve struggled so much over the years trying to find a routine that works. Hopefully, this can point me in the right direction. The glow-up is coming, I can feel it.
6. Going to a Ramen restaurant
You know those videos of fancy Ramen bowls, the ones that definitely weren’t made from a package of Top Ramen. That’s what I’m after. I want my Ramen to look so fancy that I look fancy just by eating it.
7. Binge-watching "Adventure Time" and "Big Time Rush"
The good old days of ridiculous shows on children’s channels. "Big Time Rush" has some hidden bops. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend the last two weeks of the semester listening to BTR.
Remember the adventures of Finn and Jake? Lumpy Space Princess and Princess Bubblegum? I’m ready to revisit my tween years and mostly cry during some of these episodes.
8. Going to the movies
I’ve never been much of a movie goer, but I have a growing list of movies to see this summer. From "Marvel" to "Ocean’s Eight", I’m ready to spend more money than necessary to watch these movies.
