At a glance, it might seem that there isn't anything to do for free at NYC. Well I'm here to tell you that there is PLENTY to do in NYC for free. And it's not all just parks, there are plenty of indoor activities to do when the weather is not good enough. Here are eight activities to do for free in NYC.
Walk Along the Brooklyn Bridge
This is a perfect activity to just take in the sites of the East River. And once you cross over into Brooklyn there is a little park that over looks the Manhattan skyline.
Visit the John Lennon Memorial in Central Park
This is a good way to start your big adventure into Central Park. This memorial is so beautiful and once you're there you'll just want to keep exploring all of Central Park, which you will not regret.
Washington Square Park
Take a random exploration to Washington Square Park and visit the beauty of the giant square arch. Then go take a walk through Chinatown and Little Italy.
High Line
This is a park that in set 30 ft in the air. It was built on an abandoned railroad track and you get to see amazing sights of the Hudson River and the pedestrian traffic below.
9/11 Memorial & Museum
Visiting the fountains where the Twin Towers is such a powerful experience. It is so beautiful and moving. And if you want to go into the museum, they give out free admissions on Tuesdays from 5 pm to close.
St. Patrick's Cathedral
Go and admire the beauty of this church on the outside and the inside. It looks like a place straight out of a European fairy tale. Best part is that its free to go inside whatever day of the week.
New York Public Library
Who doesn't love getting lost inside a book?! Although you can't check a book from it unless you have a library card, you can spend hours looking through the books and reading them there.
Museum of Modern Art
This Museum holds a great collection of modern art pieces from artists around the world, and has several rotating exhibits as well. And on Friday nights from 4 pm to 8 pm the offer free admission.
