With decorations for the holidays coming out just days after Halloween, this may seem like overkill by the time you actually get to the holidays. Here's a list of classic holiday songs that will get you in the spirit all season long. Don't forget to be thankful this holiday season and to give back if you can. Disclaimer: These songs may become permanently stuck in your head.
1. Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt
This song is one of my favorites because it is really catchy and funny. I can't imagine Christmas without it!
2. All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey
If you are in a relationship, you can definitely appreciate this song and even if you aren't it is a fun song to sing along to. Plus who doesn't like Mariah?
3. Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid- 1984
There is a newer version of this song with celebs like Ed Sheeran, One Direction (pre-break-up), etc. This song has a ton of remakes so it's up to you to pick your favorite, but this song is on the list because every year it reminds me how lucky I am and how important it is to give back.
4. Last Christmas by Wham!
This is another classic that has been remade by pretty much everyone with a holiday album. This is the perfect song for getting over someone over the holidays--by that I, of course, mean--it is the perfect song to help you wallow.
5. I'll Be Home For Christmas by Frank Sinatra
This is not an original Sinatra song, it is actually originally by Bing Crosby, but after listening to a few too many versions of this song, this one is decidedly the most Christmasy one.
6. Let It Snow by Dean Martin
The original artist of this song is Vaughn Monroe in 1945, yet chances are this is the version you know the best; it is definitely the one I have heard the most.
7. Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms
I had to fight the urge to use the Mean Girls' version (I'm trying to keep with the classics!). There will be no judgment from me if you do the Mean Girls' dance that you *haven't* memorized.
8. Baby, It's Cold Outside by Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé
This song has a lot of controversy surrounding the nature of the song's message. It is a classic so I still think it belongs on the list.
There are a ton of holiday songs, but these classics will kick off your holiday break with some cheer.
