Mental health is a reoccurring issue amongst people around the world, and many times people struggle with dealing with it in a proper manner, so here are some tips to make your life healthier and happier!

1. Take a break

Everyone needs a mental break once in a while, and there's no shame in it. Taking a break from your life whether it's going on vacation, reading a book, or even binging on a tv show. Even a five minutes break from everything can make all the difference. So give it a try, you never know, it might help:)

2. Drink Water

Drinking water is essential for our body, and when we don't drink enough we feel tired and overall less energetic and happy. Therefore, make sure you drink enough water not only for your body but also for your mind.

3. Stay Active

It is amazing how much exercise can change your mood and outcome of your day. Exercising provides us with energy and is one of the best ways to relieve stress, even 30 min of walking around can change your mental as well as physical health dramatically.

4. Talk about it

Talking out loud about your emotions and feelings is an excellent way to let go. Talking can help ease your mind and work out any type of issue that is bothering or consuming you.

5. Ask for help

Many people struggle to ask for help when necessary, at the end of the day we are human, and eventually everyone needs someone to listen to their problems. This someone can include a family member, a friend, or even a therapist or counselor.

6. Do something for yourself

People many times get overwhelmed by their life and do not take enough time to do something that makes them happy. Whether it's playing a sport, or painting, or reading a book, this is a great way to ease your mind and improve your mental health.

7. Eat healthy

Eating nutritious food is an important part of having a healthy and happy mind. When we eat healthy foods such as salad, or even a fruit a day this helps your mind and body function properly, which makes you a happy camper and makes you feel incredible.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
