We've all been there when you want or need to create something, but no half decent ideas are anywhere to be found inside of your brain. Creativity is supposed to be natural, they say. Don't force it, they say. However, what if we just push it along a little?
1. Watch/read something
Sometimes immersing yourself in other stories can be helpful when trying to find inspiration. Watch something you know is your style or maybe something that is completely opposite from your style. Read something that could help you figure out what you want to create.
2. Listen to music
Listening to music is a great way to get into the right mood to create. It releases endorphins that maximize happiness. Plus it's just fun to dance to and gets you excited to make something new.
3. Exercise
Once again, exercise does amazing things for not only your body but also your brain. Not only will all the right chemicals be flowing to your brain, but your body will also be tired enough to make you want to sit down for an extended period of time and create something magical.
4. Look on Pinterest
Pinterest is the hub for ideas. Take the slightest of an idea and you're bound to get thousands of pins back. Take little bits of different ones and make it into your own masterpiece.
5. Look at your previous work
Sometimes looking back at what you've already done can not only spark new ideas, but it can also be helpful in reassuring you that, yes, you've had ideas before, and yes, you can execute them well. Looking back at things you've created before is an internal "You got this!" reminder.
6. Allow yourself to express what you are actually feeling
Even though you think you don't have any ideas, sometimes you actually do and you're just scared of them. Sometimes it's hard to admit what you are actually feeling. But, often, true feelings lead to the most expressive and honest pieces of art.
7. Just sit down and create
Sometimes you just have to sit down and start. Sure, the beginning might turn out awful, but a lot of times, just starting and getting something concrete helps get your mind going. Let your brain warm up and wait and see the amazing ideas that start flowing.
