Growing up, you idolize jobs. You think you are going to love every job you have, and as you get older, you find out that the case is far from that. I have had jobs that made me want to become violent. Jobs where I have been treated with complete and utter disrespect and no kind of human decency. I've had jobs that make me want to wake up in the morning, and jobs where before you even go to sleep at night, you are already excited for tomorrow to be over. Luckily, I love my job. Well, two out of the three isn't bad. As someone who works three, we can't be picky. Working with kids is the best thing in the world. There is nothing like it. No day is ever boring, and it's filled with bubbles, colors and toys. What could be better? So, here are seven ways you know you work in a daycare or with young kids.
1. The smell of poop follows you around. You change one specific poopy diaper during the day, and that smell lingers with you for hours.
2. You know and sing every children's song ever invented repeatedly.
3. Boogers are like gold. If you had a dime for every time you wiped a runny nose or had to stop someone from picking their nose, you would be Kardashian rich.
4. You embrace the mess. You clean up one mess just to find out they made five more since you started cleaning.
5. Tackles are your friend. On a daily basis, I get at least three running hugs, one kid attempting to jump on me and five kids attempting to bounce or sit on me at a time.
6. If there is no noise, then you better look further. Sudden bouts of quiet are never a good thing. They just mean trouble.
7. You sing everything. Seriously you can't stop singing. Just stop.
You love it, and you hate it, but you can't wait to go to work every day and be a parent to 10-20 kids a day. You can't imagine spending your days doing anything else.
