Summer is a fantastic time. Long, hot days. Carefree days spent relaxing. Or that's how it used to be before going away to college. Summers are still an amazing time, but they are definitely different than they were in high school!

1. High School: I'm going to spend all my time hanging out with my friends!

College: I'm going to spend all my time working.

I don't really know how I spent my summers before I started working, but I must have had a ridiculous amount of free time.

2. High School: I have so many friends to hang out with!

College: I probably should have kept in touch with more than just one person from high school.

It's really rough having all of your close friends scattered across the country while at the same time knowing you won't see them again until school starts back up. Dinner for one, please.

3. High School: I wish my parents would leave me alone.

College: Are you sure you can't take the day off of work and spend it with me, Mom?

Being away from your family for months on end makes you really miss them. I definitely regret taking my family for granted when I lived at home.

4. High School: I'd rather go out with my friends for dinner than eat it at home.

College: There is not better meal than a home cooked meal.

I will take my Mom's cooking over and restaurant any day. Hands down. I wish I'd eaten more meals at home in high school.

5. High School: I can't wait to move out.

College: Living rent free for three months is a miracle.

Also that annoying part of life called "paying bills" is something you don't even think about in high school Thanks for the electricity and hot water, Mom and Dad.

6. High School: I want to go out and party!

College: I couldn't be more excited to have another night of relaxing with Netflix.

It's nice to get a break from going out every weekend.

7. High School: I don't want to go back to school.

College: How many more days until I can move back?

Even though we all enjoy being at home for the summer, we can't wait to return to our campuses and get back into the swing of college life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
