Everyone who has a birthday in June and July (maybe even the end of May or beginning of August) knows that there are struggles of celebrating your birthday.
People believe that having a summer birthday is a walk in the park, but as with all things it comes with it's cons.
Yes, you have the perks of not having school, having the option to sleep in and being able to basically do any outdoor or indoor activity without freezing your tail off. But, ultimately summer birthdays are just plain dissappointing.
1. You never get school parties.
Unless you have super cool teacher that does "half-birthdays" you never got to bring in cakes and invitations to school for a class party. This made you jealous of all the other kids at school and made you wish you could change your birthday so you could have a fun party, too.
2. No one ever came to your party.
A lot of your friends were just school friends so you had no way to invite them to your party during the summer. Others were on vacation. You suffered through many parties that were small and lonely.
3. You party ideas were always repetitive.
A endless stream of pools, amusement parks or an outdoor activity. The pools were crowded and it always seems like you have to deal with one person that hates swimming. Amusement parks are overcrowded and hot, plus you spend all day waiting in lines. Outdoors is no fun without water so you cross that off your list every year if possible.
4. Heat.
Everything is on fire. Literally you can't take your cake or ice cream outside or it melts into a giant mess of a puddle. The concrete burns your toes and you sunburn to look like a baked lobster.
5. You never look good.
You are always sweaty and gross. No matter what you do you are pouring sweat and ruining your hair or makeup.
6. Everyone forgets your birthday.
You don't blame them, but no one remembers your birthday because it is during the break. That means less presents and less birthday wishes in general. It makes you feel forgotten.
7. Disappointment
Overall you have to be prepared for disappointment, because summer birthdays are kind of a bummer. But, hey at least you don't have a winter birthday!
Happy birthday summer babies!!
