Being the oldest may be a struggle, but at least we aren't the middle child.

Being the oldest sibling has its advantages and disadvantages. Here are only a few truths all firstborns know too well.

1. We Were The Guinea Pig

Let’s be honest, most of us were probably accidents, but we are all the guinea pigs. We were our parents first go around and the child they had to learn to parent from. Mistakes were made, but we all turned out okay.

2. We Have Incredibly High Expectations

For some reason being the oldest means extremely high expectations. Our parents expect so much from us just because we were born first.

3. Babysitting is our full-time unpaid job

If we got paid for every time we had to babysit our siblings, we wouldn't need to work another day in our lives.

4. We Love/Hate Telling Our Siblings What To Do

Being in charge can have its perks like being able to pick what to watch on tv and getting the comfiest spot in the living room. The word “bossy” is thrown in our face so much that it has no effect on us anymore, but having to feel like the mother of your siblings gets old.

5. Despite All Odds, Everything Is Our Fault

Somehow whenever we get into fights with our siblings everything is our fault, because we are older and should “know better”.

6. Getting A License Means Becoming A Chauffeur

If we aren’t running errands for our parents, we are taking our siblings to soccer practice, dance recitals and everywhere else.

7. No One Messes With Your Siblings But You

We are the one and only person that can torment our younger siblings.

Although these 7 truths do happen to all firstborns, we wouldn't trade being the oldest for a second. Besides, we all know we are our parents favorite child.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
