Trying to figure out what gifts to buy for your friends and family is one thing, but trying not to eat your weight in cookies is a whole other thing! Staying fit during the holidays isn't easy, but follow these tips and you'll be successful!

Here are seven tips to stay fit during the holidays:

1. Drink lots and lots of water

No matter how much you eat, always drink a ton of water. Drinking water will flush out your system and cleanse you at the same time. So make sure to always have water on hand and drink at least 8 cups a day.

2. Try to get in exercise whenever and wherever you can

Working out doesn't always involve going to the gym. If you don't have the time or don't have a gym membership, don't worry! Utilize your home for your workout! There are a ton of different exercises that don't require a gym, just you!

3. Don't think that you have to fill your plate with food at a party

I know this is tough because everything looks delicious, but you'll thank me later. Most of the time, our eyes are bigger than our stomachs and we take way more than we can eat. Put what you want to eat on your plate, but in small portions. That will prevent you from overeating, and you'll still get to eat the yummy food!

4. Indulge only on nights, not the whole season

Many people get this wrong. They think because it's the holidays, they can eat sweets and comfort food for a month straight. Wrong! It will make it that much better when you indulge on the good stuff when there's a special occasion.

5. Don't stress about eating unhealthy

Enjoy your holiday. Eat regularly and cleanly every other day and you'll be able to enjoy it even more. It's only a couple days out of the month! It won't make or break you; just don't turn that one day into treats everyday.

6. Get your workout in early

Between Christmas shopping and work, it's sometimes hard to find time during the day to work out. The best option is to get your workout in early. Hit the gym at 6 or 7 a.m., or whenever you can in the morning. You'll feel much better knowing that you got your workout done for the day and it will make you that much more productive!

7. Working out doesn't always involve the gym!

If you're not a gym person, there are a number of activities you can do to stay fit. This includes hiking, ice skating, going for a walk or a run, biking. Getting outside and involving others will change up the scenery and having friends around is always a good time.

As hard as it is to not stuff your face everyday of December, it is possible! Follow these seven tips and you'll be successful in staying fit during the holiday season. Happy holidays!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
