There are always so many things going on when you walk through campus every day. People are always asking for your time, you see the colorful tents, smell the food from Cohen, and see all types of people. At times it can feel like sensory overload. These are instances that we as FGCU students know all too well:
1. I don't want your flyer.
Sorry, but I don't care about world vegan day or how you think all drugs should be legal. The vast majority of the flyers you hand out to students will hit the next trash can they walk by.
2. I have no money so why would I donate to your frat?
None of us have money, so probably the worst place to do a fundraiser is a place surrounded by broke college students rushing to wherever they need to be. We don't have the time or money to contribute to your event.
3. Should I answer yes or no to being a registered voter?
You have to read this situation very carefully. Sometimes if you say no they will try to lure you into registering, and sometimes if you say yes they will give you a thoroughly prepared presentation on whatever trivial cause they want your signature for. At the end of the day, you don't want what they're selling, and just want to go about your day.
4. Should I eat at Cohen today?
Ah, the daily question. Luckily, the Cohen Center satisfies a lot of cravings such as fast food, pizza, sushi, and smoothies. But needless to say, it's not all that healthy. "Should I eat healthy today, or should I splurge? Is it my Chick Fil A day yet?" #It'sChickFilAMonday
5. I wish I had a hammock.
With so many beautiful days here at FGCU, it's certain that the students with the hammocks are living their best life. Strung between two palm trees, they take what can only be described as tropical naps in between their classes, basking like a cat in the sun.
6. Oh, look, a show.
No one knows where he comes from, or when he will strike next, but the crazy Jesus man is not an unusual sight to see in front of the Marketplace. Shaming everyone who walks by, the crazy Jesus man with his megaphone and the 5-foot long sign of people God hates will get you for sure.
7. I have places to go.
Most of the time, students are on campus because they have somewhere to go, so being stopped by whoever can just be really annoying. If people are interested, they will approach you, otherwise, you shouldn't bother people.
