1. Is this even happening?

It’s hard to believe that tomorrow morning you’ll be waking up and heading off to your new life and meeting so many different people. Even though you’ve had a countdown on your phone for this day for months, you’re having a hard time comprehending that you’re a college student now.

2. Wow, I’m going to miss my mom

Your best friend for the past 18 years of your life will now be miles away from you and no longer reachable whenever you want. It’s finally time to start living your own life, away from mom and dad. But thankfully, we live in an era of FaceTime so mom and dad will just be a phone call away.

3. My siblings aren’t actually annoying as I thought they were

Even you and your siblings may not always get along, you know you’re going to miss them. If you have younger siblings like I do, you may not miss driving them around all the time but you’ll miss the fun car rides jamming out to music with them and watching Netflix with them.

4. I’m really going to miss my room

Even if you share a room with your sibling or your room is small, you’re definitely going to miss having your own space. You’ve grown accustomed to your room and it will take a while to get used to living in a dorm. Even though your bed might not be the comfiest, you’ll definitely miss laying down at the end of a hard day.

5. Do I have everything?

Even though you’ve been packed for days and have scavenged your house for almost everything you own, you’re worried you’ll forget something vital. Hopefully you’ll have a Target near your school in case you forget anything

6. I’m actually going to have to do schoolwork soon

The whole summer you’ve been worried about shopping and making sure that your dorm room will be the cutest one on campus. It may have slipped your mind that going away to college unfortunately means schoolwork is right around the corner.

7. I’m not ready for this

If you’re like me, you may be 18 years old but still feel like you’re in 8th grade. High school was such a blur and I still can’t believe that I’m a college student. As much as I tried to prepare myself for this next chapter of my life, I feel completely unprepared.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
