1. We are not idiots.

Although you may think we serve because we can't get a job anywhere else or are not in school, 9 times out of 10 we are actually college students working on tops of going to school full time to become your future doctors, teachers, authors, etc. So please don't treat us as if our IQ is a 50.

2. We do not intentional mess up your food, nor do we cook it.

If something is wrong with your food, we'll be glad to go get it fixed for you. However, we did not intentionally tell them to bring you broccoli instead of mashed potatoes, nor did we go back and grill your steak in between waiting on four tables.

3. You most definitely are not our only table.

As much as you want or think that our sole purpose is serve your every dire need, we most likely have at least two other table of guests. We will get around to refilling your coke every three seconds as soon as possible without you snapping your fingers in the air at us like we are dogs and we sincerely apologize for any wait you may have experience.

4. Coming in 5 minutes to close in actually rude.

By the time we are about to close, we are tired. Our backs ache from carrying 30lb trays and picking up torn up crayons the toddler at our table threw under the table. Our feet hurt from running around for hours. We most likely have homework to go do or kids to go take care of. Can you order, eat, pay and leave in 5 minutes? Absolutely not, please come back at an earlier time and take a stop a fast food restaurant at this hour.

5. You coming in to eat on holidays makes it so we can't be with our families.

Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas Eve, Easter, etc. You think it'll be nice to go to a good restaurant to celebrate and usually it is. But you coming in, ensures that we have to come to work instead of celebrating. So please be considerate and kind when you come in with your family because we can't be with ours.

6. Please don't interrupt us.

"Hi my name is Ty. How are" "Give me a water, no ice, extra lemon."

Do y'all not have any manners? Come on...

8. If you tell us you are ready, be ready.

Don't say you are ready and then have no idea what the sides even are or what you want. We have 9 billion others things to do instead of standing at the table awkwardly smiling for 10 minutes while you figure it out.

7. If you don't tip us, we don't make anything.

Tipping is our sole source of income. We make around two dollars an hour but after taxes, our paychecks always say zero. So please if you come out to eat and have someone wait on you hand and foot, tip them. Twenty percent is common courtesy, so although I do appreciate the three dollars you left on a $150 check, that still really isn't tipping well and worth all the work. If you can't afford to tip, stay home. We shouldn't be working for free and have bills to pay just like you.

So next time you go to a restaurant, remember we are working people just like you. Treat us with respect and kindness. Tip us what we deserve and keep in mind that what you give us is what you make.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
