7 Things That Make Bermuda The Most Beautiful Place on Earth

Even for a non-beach person

When it came time to vote on this year’s family vacation, Bermuda didn’t have my vote. I have never considered myself to be a beach person and I never really enjoyed tanning or going in the pool either, so I would have picked anything but an island vacation. However, we ended up going to Bermuda, and I discovered that my instincts were so wrong. I had an experience of a lifetime. These experiences have led me to believe that Bermuda is literally the most beautiful place on Earth for all of the following reasons:

1. Nice people

In my short time in Bermuda, I took a lot of taxis. Every single one of the drivers wanted to strike up a conversation or tell a story. This was a culture shock for me as I’m used to grumpy New Yorkers.

2. Life’s a rainbow

We got to Bermuda in the middle of the night, so I couldn’t appreciate the scenery on the drive from the airport to the hotel. I remember how excited I was to traverse the same road in the morning--and when the morning came, I was not disappointed. The road came to life in the sunlight. We passed the most beautiful clear blue waters, palm trees and pastel-painted homes.

3. The cars--are so cute

The streets in Bermuda are seriously unique. There are no actual highways, yet tiny pastel colored cars speed through the looping roads. I couldn’t help but think how much I would have liked to drive one.

4. The beaches--are out of this world

As I mentioned before, I would definitely not consider myself a beach person. I would actually consider myself quite the opposite. However, I must say that even I loved the beaches in Bermuda. I have never seen water so clean, blue and clear.

5. The surrounding area

Bermuda isn’t a typical island in which tourists stay in their resorts for most of their vacation( because there isn’t much else to do). All of Bermuda is beautiful. This brings me to my next point...

6. Attractions

If all you want to do on your vacation is lay on the beach, Bermuda has got you covered. However, Bermuda has all of you non-beach people out there covered as well. There is so much to see and do besides the beach--everything from shopping to spelunking.

7. Hamilton=disney

While strolling down the streets of Hamilton, I was reminded of something. I knew it looked like something I had seen before, but I couldn’t remember what. Finally, it came to me and I realized that Hamilton looks just like Disney. The buildings are so colorful and the streets are so pristine that it doesn’t even seem real.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
