During the year, we never truly sit down and see who and what is around us. Never truly taking into consideration the people in our lives and what they do for us, this Thanksgiving I've made a small list of just people and things I've come to appreciate:

1. My Mother

A strong and independent individual who has made an impact on so many peoples lives. She has always been there for me and yet let me grow to be my own person. I watch her every day take care of my step-father and siblings while still holding a full-time job to support our household. My inspiration as a mother, I hope that I could be half the mother that she is today.

2. My Best Friends

They have been there for everything and always understand how to handle the situations at hand. Truly never afraid to tell me the truth and how it is. Thank you for always being real with me, because sometimes people in this world don't want to be.

3. RIC Friends

You all have made such an impact in my life in a short amount of time, we've made bonds that will last a lifetime. We've all got personal and shared stories and secrets that no one else knows. I've made plans to live with a special few especially due to these friendships. Don't worry we are gonna get through all of this together, almost one year done. Three more to go, cross our fingers now.

4. Someone Special

You have only been in my life for a little bit, but thank you for what you have done. I hope we will be by each other's sides for a while.

5.Coupons

Honestly, coupons I have learned to appreciate. No this is not a joke, I'm being serious here. As a broke college student coupons of any type are wonderful, whether it's for food or just to buy supplies for class. Saved us all many of nights when the Cafe was closed.

6.Personal Printers

This one is just a personal appreciation because when a paper gets done 1 hour before a class happens and there is nowhere to print till the middle of that class, a personal printer definitely comes in handy.

7. Positivity

Keeping myself positive has been a real challenge of mine in this past year. So, being able to surround myself with positive vibes and people has me feeling very appreciated. Looking at to where I was before and where I am now has me thanking everything around me.

Everyone enjoy the holidays! We will soon be approaching Christmas time and listening to Mariah Carey on repeat, so enjoy the regular radio while it lasts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
