To the women who run our lives. To the women who drive us absolutely insane. To the women who always know better than us. To the women who are often under appreciated and deserve more than they receive. Moms worldwide, we are ever-so-grateful for you. No matter how little we say it, just know we should say it more. We appreciate all you do and here are just a few things we want to thank you for.
1. They know everything about everything.
I call my mom 24/7 about every little thing because I know nothing about anything. I can be quoted many times saying, “How do moms know this stuff? Do you just automatically know when you have a child, or what is going on…?” But really, they know about taxes and school and directions to anywhere you need to go and how to bake the perfect cookie. Everything about everything.
2. They always have coupons.
I almost put this in #1, but then I realized it happens so often that I should probably put it in its own category. Each time I call and say I’m going to stop somewhere to look for something, I always get, “Well, I have a 20 percent off coupon for there you can use.” Where are you getting these things and why do you have so many?
3. They did give birth to you, ya know?
Without them, we would not be on this earth. It’s actually not the most horrible place when we all get along. Appreciate those angels; they brought you into this mostly wonderful world.
4. They most likely made you the person you are today.
Without watching their every move throughout your life, you probably would not be the person you are today. They teach us to talk, to walk, to do what’s right, and how to treat people. As much as you don’t like to admit it, you’re similar to your mom.
5. They support your choices, even if they don’t agree.
In life, everyone disagrees with their mom. It’s a part of growing up. As their children, we do not always make the decisions they would make, but they learn to accept our choices and work to understand them.
6. They work to give you the world and they always have your best interest at heart.
Your mom (even your dad, but it’s not about him right now) works to provide a life for you. Everything they do is in light of you. You most likely get to eat and drink, have a roof over your head, and go to school. Be appreciative; those things aren’t free.
7. They are always there to pick up the pieces.
Anytime something goes wrong, they are there to clean up the disaster at hand. They have the answers to problems and often solve them just as quickly as you create them. Each meltdown, relationship problem, and bad decision was rapidly turned around by a mom. I often think they just do their best to make up the best answer. They don’t know the answers, but they come up with them on the spot for your sake.
8. They are actually pretty fun.
As much as you hate to admit it, they actually are fun sometimes. I'm sure you have an immense amount of memories together and a lot of them involve your mom doing something hysterical. They are people just like you and I, and we often forget this. They are fun and funny and know how to have a good time.
Moms. They are a giant mystery. I am not sure how they do all that they do. Super humans among the rest of us, I guess. You probably don’t even realize how much your mom really does. And you probably don’t appreciate her as much as you should.
Tell her thank you. Hug her (this is my mom’s personal fave because she likes to know my sister and I still like to be near her, which we do. So shout out to you mom, when you read this. I know you will.) Hang out with her. You’d be surprised how much your mom just wants to hang out with you. She wants to be in your presence. You were once her little baby, she just wants to be with you sometimes.
Love your mom as much as she loves you. She’s given you everything, show her some love. So to all the momma’s around the world, here’s a late Mother’s Day message. We appreciate and love you. Thank you for life and making sure we see and experience all it has to offer.
