It is not your fault that nobody got the joke...

Having a sarcastic sense of humor is both a blessing and a curse. One minute you are hilarious, the next you offended someone. I have a witty, dry sense of humor that is constantly misunderstood so I know how much it sucks when you think what you said was funny, but no one else does. Here are seven daily struggles of sarcastic people.

1. Nobody gets the joke...

The worst thing ever is thinking that something is funny, but others do not. You thought through the joke in your head and assumed that those around you would get it also. It is so defeating when you have to explain your joke to people because to you it is easy to understand.

2. Obvious Fake Laughter

At least they are laughing right?! Fake laughter is pretty easy to catch, and you get it often because of people wanting to get the joke. Of course, you do not think that your joke was super complex but apparently it was to the person "laughing" awkwardly.

3. Being Accidentally Offensive

The awkward silence after you realize you may have just come across some major insecurities. It was not meant to be offensive, and you thought that they would laugh. This is the worst reaction you can possibly get, and it happens constantly. You did not mean to offend anyone, and you thought they might just get it.

4. The Stank Eye or Side Glare

This is hands down the most awkward reaction, especially if it is more than one of your friends. When they glance at each other then you know that they do not get it.

5. New friends think you don't like them.

Meeting new people is great until you slip up and take a joke way too far. Everyone loves making new friends, but your sarcasm is better at creating enemies.

6. Taking A Joke Too Far

They laughed the first time you made the joke, but you took it a little too far, and it came back to bite you. It sounded hilarious to you, and they thought it was great, but you took it about 10 notches too far, and now, they're just confused or annoyed. I do this constantly, and it is absolutely awful.

7. Making People Worry About Your Self Esteem

If your sarcasm is self-deprecating, you deal with this one a lot. You might love to make fun of yourself, but others seem to be concerned for your health. You tell them that you are okay, but they just don't get that you are joking.

Which of these seven struggles do you relate to most?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
