I always hear people saying that they wish they had curly hair, but curly hair is harder to deal with than it seems. Learning how to take care of it requires a lot of trial and error. But, curly hair is something that I've grown to love. Without it, am I even myself? To all you curly haired beauties out there, I know what you're going through.
1. Good hair days only happen when my hair wants them to.
Those days are few and far between. The hair wants what it wants. Most days it wants to be a frizzy mess. Embrace it.
2. My hair has two styles: frizzy and slightly less frizzy.
I'm not sure how people with perfect curls even exist. I only have two options, and they're not that great. I do the best I can with what I have.
3. I have a certain routine for my hair that I must go through to look even the least bit presentable.
I'm not one of those girls who can look nice without even trying. I have to take specific steps to keep my hair as tame as possible. Even with that, it could go either way. I just have to test my luck.
4. I can't just brush it to make it look better.
You just don't understand. If I brush it, it goes from slightly frizzy to needing an afro pick real quick. You thought it was frizzy before? Wait until I brush it out.
5. Summer is not my friend.
The second I step outside, I have to prepare myself for curls of mass destruction. And I can forget about trying to straighten it. My straightener goes into hibernation during the summer.
6. The knots are a real struggle.
Being as curly as it is, my hair is prone to knots of all sizes. There is no good way to deal with them. Beauty is pain, so grin and bare it.
7. It's better not to try and play with my hair.
Don't get me wrong, I love to have my hair played with. It's not you, it's me. Most likely if you play with my hair, you could easily lose your entire hand.
