Lake George is about a 32.6-mile lake in the New York Adirondacks. I have been going there longer than I can remember, and my dad has been going there every summer ever since he was a child. For some families, their spot is a beach, but for ours, it's a lake. We live in Hulettes Landing in the middle of the lake. It is a small town that offers so much. There is so much to do here, and you'll never get bored.

1. Go on a boat.

If you don't have a boat, then go rent one. There are so many places to explore like Paradise Bay, Picnic Island, the Eye of the Needle, the Mother Bunch, and way more. You could also go water skiing, tubing, or anything your heart desires.

2. Go meet your neighbors.

Years and years ago my neighbor introduced me to their renters that were a family with four children - all girls. Now we spend every August together, and I wouldn't change anything. We have had family dinners, fudge making, walks to the marina or the Soda Fountain, and way more. We have been a part of each other's lives since we were little, including when their fifth sister was born. I'll never forget the email I was sent of the precious Mia.

3. Hike.

There are so many mountains surrounding Lake George and they all carry some pretty amazing views. Elephant Mountain is right behind our house, but our favorite mountain to hike is Black Mountain. The view you get from that is breathtaking. The hike is about eight miles in total with one of the best views once you get to the top (seen above). There are two ways you could start and/or end your hike. There is a spot on the water where you can start the hike which would be a little longer of a hike or there is a spot on land which is higher up so the trail is about eight miles. Now matter how you start, it is very rewarding once you get to the top.

4. Go to the Soda Fountain.

The Huletts Current

This one is solely in Huletts Landing and is a place that we go to almost every night we are there. It is an ice cream place owned by two sisters, Joie and Maddie. They now offer homemade ice cream sandwiches - yum! You will not regret swinging by and picking up an ice cream cone.

5. Go visit the Lake George Village.

The Lake George village is so much fun. There is shopping, arcades, restaurants, and other places to have fun with your family. You can't go wrong with taking a day trip to the village.

6. Enjoy some historical attractions.

There is also Fort Ticonderoga, which is about a 20-minute drive from Huletts Landing. They do reenactments which are so interesting to watch. If you didn't know, Fort Ticonderoga was built by the French around 1755.

7. Make a bonfire at night.

This is a classic Lake George night: sitting around the campfire making s'mores and telling scary stories. As the fire starts to burn out, look up at the stars and listen to the waves crashing. There is nothing more relaxing than listening to the water crash against the rocks at night. And the stars - they are some of the brightest stars you will ever see.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
