Have you ever found yourself bored when you actually have free time as a college student? Well, here are some ideas that can get you out of your food infested room and test induced coma and actually do something with your friends.

1. Free Concerts at the Levit Pavilion in Bethlehem

Pretty much every college students favorite words are FREE. Whether it be free food, free stickers, free anything. But who wouldn't want free live music? I love that they provide this in downtown Bethlehem because it is such a perfect atmosphere for it and you can experience new music. Even if you don't like what is playing, who cares? IT IS FREE. And the website where you can see what's playing is http://levittpavilionarlington.org/. So get out there and listen to some free music!

2. Rails to Trails Walking Paths

This is not just something that is just in the Lehigh Valley, it is actually in all of Pennsylvania and is once again a free activity for you to do any time of year. What Pennsylvania did was turn old railroads into trails for the public to use. What is nice about this is that they are relatively flat so you can do a variety of different activities on them such as running, walking, and biking. My personal favorite time to go is in the fall because the trail that is local to where I live is lined with a lot of trees and you can see some cool colors on the leaves of the trees as they turn. A link to where all of these trails is http://www.traillink.com/state/pa-trails.aspx . I would definitely check this out and give it a shot. But be aware, some of the trails passes behind some houses so try to be quiet so you aren't disturbing their peace.

3. Steel Ice Center

One of my favorite activities that I have been doing since middle school is going to the Stee Ice Center on Friday nights for public skating featuring a "DJ". This activity you do have to pay for, but it is only $8 for adults. It is something that is fun to do with a group of people and quite amusing to watch people trying to ice skate. The link for their schedule is http://www.steelicecenter.com/public-sessions/ . And hey, this might give you a new hobby to try because it can get pretty addicting and fun once you get the hang of it.

4. Coca-Cola Park

Unfortunately, the season for baseball is coming to an end, but something that is always fun to do is to go to an Iron Pigs baseball game, even if you're not a baseball fan. It is fun to really get into the crowd activities and get some FREE (yes there is that word again) stuff. They also host other events at the field. Here is the link http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t1410 so you can go and check some of the stuff out.

5. PPL Center

There are always many events going on at the PPL Center, and some of them may even catch your eye. Maybe even give something a try that you would never think of doing? The link for the what is going in downtown Allentown is here: http://www.pplcenter.com/events

6. America on Wheels

Yet again there is another thing in Allentown that not many people take advantage of. If you (or your significant other or someone you know) is into cars, then this is the museum for you and it does look very interesting. Here is the link to find out more information http://americaonwheels.org/

7. Grimm's Farm

As we all know, it is almost Halloween and October is slowly coming to a close. So for this one, you may want to try it out soon. They have a lot of fun activities to do here and it is free of admission. It is also nice to just walk around and look at all of the stuff that they have for sale and to see the animals that they have on the farm. For more information on Grimm's Farm, here is the link. http://grimsgreenhouse.com/

Well, I hope these ideas give you some fun things to do around Lehigh Valley. I know that it helped me get some ideas and that I am actually going to try some of them. So go and get out of that stuffy room of yours and hang out with your friends and actually do something with yourself that is not college related.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
