7 Things Only Cat Ladies Understand About Themselves

We aren't THAT weird.

Cats are the bane of my existence. You may not necessarily agree with me because either you absolutely hate cats, or you prefer dogs over cats. But, it isn't harmful to check out this article right? Maybe this can help you understand cat lovers, or even make you want to get to know cat lovers. So, hopefully, you can read this and nod along. If not, well, at least you gained some useful information, amirite? Meow Meow to you too!

1. We are not all antisocial.

Do you seriously expect all of us to be at home every day, chilling and watching Netflix with food all over the bed? Us cat lovers still have a social life. We just aren't as loud and annoying as dog lovers are. We enjoy our private time and we need time to recharge. But that DOES NOT mean that we don't know how to have fun.

2. We love cute, small accessories (or even better: accessories that look like kitties).

Most of the time, we own cats. It's either that or we want to own cats. So, since we do not have physical cats in our possession, we want to make sure that sometime in the future, we can save up these same accessories that had been useful to us at one time. We are careful people, always wanting to provide the best for our future cats, for them to enjoy lives at home with us, and these small accessories remind us of that.

3. We want to be loved and appreciated, even more so than dog lovers.

We are annoying, and we're sorry for that. We don't mean what we say when we lash out at you, but sometimes we just need our privacy when our counterpart dog lovers are outside partying, drinking, and having a good time. We enjoy partying, just not with complete strangers. We can even be more obnoxious than dog lovers. But we are very insecure at times: we constantly need your reassurance. Your hugs, your complimenting words, and your smile can be something that can cheer us up. So, bear with us, and please don't get mad.

4. We can hold long grudges with people, although we really don't want to.

It's our defense mechanism. Instead of talking it out, we just curl into a ball and ignore you for days. It's not like we just don't want to solve the problem, we just don't want to confront the problem. We are too afraid of rejection, and we don't want to see you upset. Like cats, we just hope that ignoring the problem will make it disappear, but in our minds, we know that isn't true. But we can't help it. I guess that's just how we are. And maybe, we might be brave enough to talk it out one day, but don't pressure us, because that might just push us away. Please be patient with us, we mean well.

5. We are independent, creative people.

Most cat-lovers spend their lives doing creative styles of expression; whether that could be writing, drawing, singing, painting, photography, poetry, etc; it is best to just give them the space they need because they can fully hang out with you. We want stability, and too many connections can often drive us insane because we crave our own personal space. And if our space is violated, we feel the need to distance ourselves away in order to calm down. But trust us, we appreciate all that you're doing, just not in the way you're expecting it.

6. We are witty.

Everyone is witty in their own ways, but cat lovers are even more so. You can choose to disagree with me on that one, but us cat lovers enjoy telling puns and shooting others down with brutal sarcasm (maybe that's just me? Hmm). But anyways... we try not to hurt you, but if we do, disregard us. Most of the time, we don't mean it, and that's just our way of showing affection and having an honest connection with you. So, if you have nothing to do, just sit next to us, and laugh, please. We appreciate that. I know some of our jokes will suck, but if you laugh, our friendship will go a long way.

7. We are REALLY socially awkward people.

I must admit, there are some cat lovers that are extroverts. But I'm talking about the majority of us. We can be very clumsy, have a bad taste of humor, or in general be pretty awkward people at social events or when making new friends. But we promise we become very clingy and loveable after words. We just don't know how to express it firsthand. We love you, so, hopefully, you all can return the favor. We do look like we are low key judging everyone, but most of the time, that's just our face and our mood.

But, aside from all that, cat lovers are very genuine people: full of understanding, sympathetic, empathetic, nice, just like any other ordinary person. This was just a list of some of the differences cat lovers may have, just to give you a better understanding of us. Hopefully, people won't avoid us now, right?

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
