Nashville is the kind of city that you must visit at some point in your life. There is a certain energy there that can’t be found anywhere else. Here’s what I learned when I visited;
1. Everyone’s in “the industry.”
Your waitress, your neighbor, your teacher. Whether they’re an artist themselves or on the business, side of things, they’re in the music industry.
2. The locals don’t go to Broadway.
The locals tend to hang out in midtown, 12 South, or East Nashville. They prefer to stay away from the craziness of Broadway. They know better than to get caught up in the mess that is tourists.
3. People stand in line to take Instagram pictures.
There are TONS of murals in Nashville. Literally they are everywhere. They’re so popular for pictures that lines form outside of them. Not just like a small line where people are taking turns, but 20+ people. We all know where those pictures are going… straight to Instagram.
4. You’ll probably see a celebrity.
You’ll see at least one. You might not even realize it, but odds are there’s one nearby. One thing you never want to do is go up and talk to them. They are just living their lives, and people in Nashville know to let them be.
5. Alcohol is everywhere.
Whether it’s an open bar at a work event, a casual cocktail at a writer’s round, or you’re partying at Tin Roof, the alcohol is flowing. Shout out to Frugal MacDoogal for the cheap liquor and free samples!
6. You’ll make new friends.
For some reason, the people here are way friendlier than anywhere I’ve ever been. Everyone’s got a smile on their face and something nice to say.
7. Everyone believes in Nashville.
Nashville is the place where people’s dreams come true. A place where people defy the odds and make something of themselves. This is where stars are born. They don’t call it Music City for nothing!
