It's that time of year that always seems to sneak up on me. One day you're wearing boots to be cute, and the next day, they are your only chance at survival. To help you through this transition, here are the seven stages of snow acceptance.
1. Shock
It was literally just summer yesterday, and now you’re having to stock up on food because you’re not sure when you’ll be able to drive to the grocery store again.
2. Denial
You just tell yourself that it’s not really happening. You can still go places. It can’t be that cold, can it? There's realistically still time for me to drive* home and escape this.
*Meanwhile: your car is already stuck in driveway.
3. Anger
You had plans for your first weekend back, darn it! Now you have no other choice but to start the homework already assigned. Or start an entire new series on Netflix because, of course, you already finished binge watching a show over break.
4. Bargaining
If classes get canceled again, I promise I will try my absolute best and do all of my reading for the rest of the semester.
5. Pain and guilt
You knew you should've gone and gotten all of your textbooks as soon as you saw it was supposed to snow. Now you're risking a situation like this:
6. Depression and reconstruction
It’s seriously just so cold outside. But I guess I can go find a pizza box and try to sled for just a little while.
7. Acceptance
I LOVE THE SNOW!
Stay safe and stay warm, friends.
