The 7 Stages Of Prepping For Freshman Move-In Day, As Told By "The Office"
The Hollywood Reporter

Buying stuff for college is one of the most stressful life experiences I've gone through. I mean, there are a million different color options and a million more pattern options for bedding, and not to mention, the fancy down mattress toppers or the cooling mattress toppers or the back support mattress toppers. And oh yeah, who could forget the fifty different brands of mini-fridges?!

Here are the different stages leading to freshman move-in day, told by The Office.

1. Actually figuring out what stuff to buy.

office 1

Half of the things you think you need, you already have, but then you start to think - maybe, I need some new things. Maybe, I need a new pillow. Maybe, I need new clothes. Maybe, I need a new personality. Cue the crisis, and boom, back to square one of making a list of items.

2. Going to buy the stuff.

office 2

Okay, you made it to the store, and the nice sales lady is really helpful. Then, she starts asking questions: "How big is your dorm?" and "How much closet space do you have?" and "Are you bringing the fridge?" And, you have no idea so you have a moment of panic...

3. Realizing how much all the stuff costs.

Then, you started to wonder, do I really need that snuggie or all those flamingo pens?

4. BUT mother dearest takes out the ~coupons~.

5. Leaving the stuff in a pile in your room.

The constant reminder that moving out is approaching, and you're definitely not ready.

6. Packing all the stuff.

Trying to pack all the important things in your life into bags really makes you think about your life. If you're like me, then you try to think how you can consolidate even more and live like Jack Kerouac. But then, you remember reality and it's back to packing.

7. ACTUALLY MOVING IN.

IT'S THE BIG DAY! Finally, you get to make your bed with that down mattress topper and Urban Outfitters bedding set up your family pictures on your desk, and hang those fairy lights. It's time to say adios to the fam and hola to your roommates because now YOU'RE IN COLLEGE!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
