When you have a busy schedule, staying organized is the best way to keep everything on track. However, some people have difficulty being organized, and it can be hard to figure out where to start. Here are 7 smalls ways to become more organized.

1. Keep a planner

Having one physical space to write out all your appointments, assignments, meetings, work schedules, and anything else you may have going is really helpful in getting organizing. You can easily compare what you have to do on a weekly basis and create a plan for the week, along with keeping track of everything you need to do.

2. Set reminders/calendar notifications

Have something super important to do that you absolutely cannot forget or something out of the ordinary? Set up a reminder on your phone so you don't forget it! Google calendars can also notify you when you have a scheduled event coming up. This is a good way to ensure you are on time for any meetings you may have.

3. Cross off completed tasks

When you complete a task, cross it off! This way you know it's done and that you don't have to worry about it. This is also a good way to see what else you need to get done without getting distracted by completed tasks.

4. Keep a neat workspace

Cluttered spaces create stress and can make it harder for you to find anything you need. Keep your main workspace clean and neat to make it easier to stay organized while working on homework.

5. Don't procrastinate

We are all guilty of this at times, but procrastinating is only a way to become disorganized. Limit your procrastination time by doing work sooner than later; there will always be time to relax after you do what needs to get finished.

6. Color-code tasks

Creating your own color-coding system can make your planner more visually appealing and also allow you to categorize your tasks. You could color-code based on importance, category-- whatever helps keep you on track!

7. Prioritize what you need to do

When you have a lot of things that need to get done, it can be hard to know where to start. Prioritize what needs to get done first and what is most important. Create a list of action items that need to get done ASAP, along with deciding what can be put off. Also, make sure to break up larger tasks into smaller chunks to be done over a longer period of time so you aren't stuck doing it all at the last second.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
