The Jackson-Metro Area is a large clump of the five counties surrounding the city of Jackson, MS. This area of Mississippi is already very large and it is continuously growing with new businesses and families. What is it like living there, you might ask? Well, it is interesting, to say the least. Here is how you can tell you are from this great place.
1. You feel like you know everyone.
None of the counties in the Jackson-Metro are small, but somehow you end up knowing so many people from your surrounding counties and you aren't even sure how you know them.
2. High School football is life.
Once school starts football games normally begin about two weeks later. Whether it be Brandon vs Pearl, JA vs Prep, or Madison Central vs Clinton - these rivalries are undeniably the most waited-for events of the year.
3. Want Mexican food? No problem.
Every town in the Jackson-Metro has an abundance of Mexican restaurants, but don't you worry, no one is complaining. You pick one you like the most and you only go to that one... do not try to change it up because you will be disappointed.
4. Going to the same college.
No one is actually sure how this happens, but every year the majority of students go to either Ole Miss or State. Every year it changes, and every year the Egg Bowl is just as nasty as the year before.
5. Instagram followers by the gazillion.
You don't even know half the people you follow, but they are from the great Jackson-Metro so you are bound to be best pals forever and ever.
6. When Pearl got the outlet mall you died a little.
Nothing this great had ever happened before. Mississippi doesn't get things like an outlet mall!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. It is always a place to call home.
Whether you like it or not, most people from there have been there their entire lives and even though it had it's stormy days you wouldn't trade the sunny ones for anything. You still have all your memories from Rapids by the Reservoir and all of your friends' parties being at a Mexican restaurant and you would not trade them for anything else in the world. It may not have been your ideal place to call home, but it was the place you learned to grow and love and it was also the place you grew to love.
