7 Signs You're The Mom Of The Friend Group
hercampus.com

So this is it. You've been named the "mom" of the friend group. But what does that mean? All of your friends refer to you as mom. When getting introduced to new people it goes something like..."Hey! This is ..... and she's the mom of all of us!" Obviously, you are not anyone's real mom in your friend group because that would be really weird and questionable but you are a mom figure. Here are some signs you are the mom figure:

1. You plan a short vacation and of course, no one remembers EVERYTHING.

I mean, is it even vacation if you don't forget about five necessities? So everyone looks to you to make sure that you have the item that everyone forgot. Odds are you probably have it because deep down you knew someone was bound to forget it.

2. You know how to cheer for each of your friends.

As a "mom," you need to know that to make Liz feel better she needs a gallon of ice cream, some Grey's and cuddles. You know that Emily needs a nap, chicken nugs and probably another nap depending on how miserable she is.

3. Everyone relies on you to have a game plan and to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

Plan a vacation? Hey, mom. Need to run errands and need a plan to cover everything? Hey, mom. If you're having a party, usually your friends will just assume you have everything under control or you have everything you need. Moms usually do, right?

4. You're always there to support your friends at all of their life or sports events.

You're that crazy teen in the audience cheering your best pals on in whatever you're doing.

5. You are the responsible one.

You haven't heard from one of your friends in a day or two so you just need to check up and make sure they are a-okay. I hear it's a mom thing or something like that.

6. You drive everywhere.

Everyone can hop in the mom-mobile to go get some pizza.

7. You are a "young mother."

Last, but definitely not least, you are like a younger mom which makes giving advice a little easier because you are also there and struggling with the same things; so giving advice and opinions is a little bit better. We are there at all hours of the night or morning to help fix whatever issues you have. I mean who doesn't want a mom about the same age that you are? It's also a plus that you can still hang back or go out with your friends too. You're the mom, but like the cool mom.

Don't be ashamed if you are the mom of the friend group. I'm also the proud mom of the friend group. It's not a bad thing at all. It just means that all of your friends rely on you to make sure everything runs smoothly and to help them when they need it. Shout out to all the "moms!" We didn't choose the mom life, the mom life chose us.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
