With Mother's Day right around the corner, it only makes sense that I take the time to acknowledge why my mother is the greatest person I know. Every girl needs her mom, and I could not imagine my life without her. As far back as I can remember, she has been my hero. I have never met someone who is as hardworking as she is, and she would do anything to make sure her kids are taken care of. I have come to the realization that my mother is actually my best friend as well, and there are seven reasons as to why I believe that.

1. I can tell her anything.

Of course, my mom will never stop being my parent. She will get mad at me when I do something wrong, and she will lecture me the way every parent does. However, after all of the lecturing is done, she is there to console me, and give me advice on whatever I come to her with.

2. She won't tell anyone anything I say to her.

Don't get me wrong, I have amazing friends. I don't think I have to worry about my friends telling any of my secrets, but with my mom I'm 100% sure I don't have to worry. I can talk about anyone/anything with her, and she would never tell a soul.

3. If someone wrongs me, she doesn't like them.

I mean, isn't that every mother's job? It's always nice to have someone on my side of an argument, and it's even nicer to know that I have someone that cares about me so much, they are willing to cut ties with anyone that hurts me.

4. She will defend me until the the end of time.

It does not matter if I am in the wrong, or not. If you are hurting me, or coming at my character in any way, shape, or form, you better believe my mom will be there right by my side to defend me from you. It's like having my own personal bodyguard.

5. Nothing I do will stop her from loving me.

I could rob a bank, burn down an ex-boyfriend's house, even murder someone (extreme, but still fits the scenario), and my mom would never give up on being my parent. Obviously the disappointment would be present, but she would still be by my side to give me the love I would need from her.

6. We can hang out the way I hang out with my other friends.

Going to get a pedicure, eating ice cream/watching movies all night, and girl talk are all things I can do with my girl friends, and mom. Those are the days I cherish with my mom the most.

7. No matter what she does to me, I will never stop loving her.

Just like how I can do no wrong in my mother's eyes, she could never do wrong in mine. Thankfully, my mother has never wrong me before. However, if there ever came a time where that did occur, I could never hold that grudge against her. The love I feel for my mom is unconditional, and she will always be perfect to me.

I love you, Mom. <3

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
