Cat person or dog person. The choice is make or break. The answer can bring people together or tear them apart.

For a while I've always shied away from the question. I love both, I’d say. I just love animals. But recently I have come to realize that there is no denying it anymore.

I am 100% a dog person.

And I’ve been thinking about this for a while. About this label that I am forced to put on myself. But I have come to realize being a dog person is AMAZING. I love that I’m a dog person.

So here are my 7 reasons why dogs really are the best friend a person can have.

1. You will never be alone.

Your dog will always be there for you, waiting for some love and treats. You can talk to him/her about your day, your issues. Literally your dog is your own personal therapist.

2. You will never waste food.

Dogs are kind of like garbage disposals. THEY EAT EVERYTHING!! Obviously don’t give them that last piece of chocolate cake. But that last piece of cheese? Go for it.

3. You will know if there is an intruder... most of the time.

A lot of dogs are seriously great barkers. They train for it. They will bark and bark and bark their foolish heads off. And while that is annoying… think about it this way. They are protecting you!

4. Their personalities are uncanny. Each one is unique.

My dog’s inside voice sounds nothing like my sister’s dog. Even though they are the same breed. Each dog literally has such a unique personality. They are literally just like humans with different interests and tastes. It’s amazing.

5. They’ll work out with you… and enjoy it!

Want to go for a walk? A run? A bike ride? Your dog is down! You may not be able to find a gym buddy, but your dog will certainly walk with you and never complain. Not once. Actually he/she will probably enjoy the extra time with you.

6. They actually never complain about anything.

Dogs always seem happy! They love you! They just want to be with you and make you happy!

7. Every time you come home it’s like you haven’t been home in weeks.

Best welcoming committee ever!!! Nothing is better than coming home from a long day and having your dog(s) jump all over you with love and kisses.

So there you have it, my reasons why dogs will always hold the key to my heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
