Who needs farmers? All they do is play on tractors and get up when a rooster crows, right? Farmers don't contribute anything to society, do they?

Here are seven reasons why you shouldn't thank a farmer:

1. They provide jobs

Because that's not good for the economy, right?

2. They instill good values

From working off the land to hard work and teaching young children about proper care of equipment and animals, farmers aren't really all that important, are they?

3. Farmers help provide food

We don't need that hamburger meat for next weeks dinner. We don't need bacon. Or even fruits and veggies for our balanced diets? We can filter air for nutrients

4. Most research funding goes into developing new ways to grow crops or raise better tolerate crops (or animals)

From trying to combat disease or pests to developing new varieties of plants for tolerance to drought, farmers don't need that research money, right?

5. They spend all day every day working on the land

From before the sun comes up to sometimes well after the sun goes down, farmers are just people who spend their days worrying about producing quality items for the consumer to use...

6. Farmers care about the welfare of their herd or their crop

I mean, that's not fair, right? For farmers to want to see their crops "do well and have a bountiful harvest." Who really needs farmers anyway?

7. Farmers aren't really that important

They only provide food for us, stay out in the fields for long hours at a time, and not really getting a whole bunch of credit where credit is due. Who needs farmers anyway?

*Disclaimer* This in no way, shape or form correlates to my views on farmers. Meant to be a satirical piece. We should always respect and value our farmers. They do take the time and energy and devote their lives to the production of food that we as humans desperately need to survive. So, if you know a farmer or think you know a farmer, find them and say thank you. They are very important to society as a whole.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
