7 Quotes To Ring In The New Year
Estée Janssens

365 days have come and gone, but now 2018 gives you a brand new opportunity to make the next 365 days in a year the most rewarding. Many people enjoy making "New Years resolutions" to help reach their goals and change their lifestyle. Instead of making those various resolutions; here are 7 quotes to help better yourself and shape 2018 into your best year yet!

1. "Cheers to a new year and another chance to get it right." - Oprah Winfrey

Make this new year all about your brand new second chance. Take every possibility to do what you need to do to make this year better than the last.

2. "Good parties create a temporary youthfulness." - Mason Cooley

Don't forget to have a little bit of fun and to relax. Work and stress can pile up fast, so taking time to go out and have fun is a necessity for 2018. Have a girls night on the weekend or after a long day of working, treat yourself to something that makes you happy.

3. "I have no way of knowing how people really feel, but the vast majority of those I meet couldn't be nicer. Every once in a while someone barks at me. My New Year's resolution is not to bark back." - Tucker Carlson

This one is huge! It's important to be kind to the people that deserve it, but it's even more important to be kind to the people that do not deserve it. Strive to be the bigger person.

4. "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to just try one more time." - Thomas A. Edison

If you do make New Years resolutions... DO NOT GIVE UP! If your resolution does not go as you thought it would during the first couple months, try something else and adjust your plan to something achievable. Determination and motivation are beyond important.

5. "Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you." - Walter Winchell

Stick by the people you love and make sure they know they are loved by you. Be there in their time of need because no one really knows what tomorrow will bring.

6. "We are made for larger ends than Earth can encompass. Oh, let us be true to our exalted destiny." - Catherine Booth

Go big this year. Make your dreams come true and work hard to achieve them. The world is yours to explore and to make a difference in the lives of the 7 billion people around you. How are you going to make a difference this year?

7. "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions." - Dalia Lama

Chose to BE HAPPY. Happiness is essential to this New Year. Of course, all days won't be filled with happiness, yet you can still try to find the joy in the tough situations that life is going to present you with. Remember to make yourself happy first, then spread that bliss with the people around you.

Here's to hoping 2018 brings us all, happiness and the drive to succeed in the best possible way!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
