Plans do not always follow through. Turns do not always turn the right way. Feelings are not always mutual. Life does not always go according to what we initially expect, and sometimes some of us may not be prepared for what all it has to throw at us.. and that's okay. But for times like these and even for those we can handle, who's to say we don't need a little help. For that, here are a few words of wisdom that just about anyone could use.

In a time where you are in need of hope, listen to the words of Anne Lamott, "Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up."

When things get hard and you feel as if there is nothing more you can take, Chris Bradford offers inspiring words of strength, "Anyone can give up; it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone would expect you to fall apart, that's true strength."

At times when you are down and begin doubting your faith, reflect on this bible verse: "God can restore what is broken and change it into something amazing. All you need is faith." - Joel 2:25

This quote by Morgan Harper Nichols is a personal favorite of mine, especially in a time when you may need words of wisdom. It is quoted, "One day you will wake up and all of the waiting will have made sense. You will realize that all of the prayers that seemed to be tangled in worries were actually wrapped tightly in God's grace. You will realize that even though before, you were certain it was over you were actually... okay, and everything that was supposed to happen happened and you are right where you need to be."

Without a doubt, every single one of us has been worried and in need of words of comfort. When you need those words of comfort, reflect on this quote by Leon Brown where he says "The day you stop worrying will be the first day of your new life; anxiety takes you in circles, trust in yourself and become free."

There are times in life when we begin to feel lost, or like we have lost our purpose. This is a time when we need guidance. The quote, "You have to do what's best for you and what's going to make you happy at the end of the day because no one can live with the consequences or anything that comes with your decisions besides you," by LeBron James is an excellent reminder of what we need to focus on in a time like this.

For those times when you are in need of simple happiness, think of the words provided by Bilal Zahoor where is is said, "To find happiness, you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, and something to inspire you." These words are important because we can find the simplest pieces of life to provide us with these things.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
