There are some serious perks when your parents come visit you at college, whether you're a freshmen or senior. You've developed an entirely new life than the one they shared with you, so it can be fun to bring your two worlds together. Plus, after you've been away from home for so long, they're practically dying to spoil you. Who are you to stop them?
1. They pay for your food.
And this isn't just like a friend spotting you on a couple slices of Papa Johns, no. This is sit down restaurant, wood-fire oven, ingredients-you've-never-heard-of pizza. And breakfast the next day. And Starbucks, too, if you hint at it long enough.
Savor your parents' visits for the first class dining (or at least something better than dining-hall dining), and the break your food budget gets for the month.
2. You can see them in person, instead of on a phone screen.
The hugs are much better this way, too.
3. They bring everything you forgot at home.
If anyone says they've never forgotten anything at home, they're lying. Even though you bring bins upon bins of stuff you never use, you never fail to forget at least one random thing that you end up needing. Who knew there would be so many uses for Tupperware?
4. You get to show them what your double life is like.
Since you've moved out, there's been a lot that has changed in your day-to-day life. Showing your parents around campus now that you're an expert can be a lot of fun!
5. They'll take you to run all your errands.
This probably doesn't apply as much to those who are lucky enough to have a car on campus, but for those who don't, this can be a godsend. When you're running low on Easy-Mac and K-cups, your parents' visit cannot come soon enough.
6. They can fill you in on everything that has happened at home.
Hearing about family friends and all the news of your small town is great and all, but what you really want to know is whether or not your dog misses you.
7. You get to catch up with some of your best friends.
Yes, I mean your parents. Even though you were ready to spread you wings and try out the whole "independence" thing when you headed off to school, it's still always nice to visit the familiar and the comfortable. You've been through a lot together, and have probably realized that the saying is true, and that distance really does make the heart grow fonder.
