Seven Of 2015's Best Moments

Many of the headlines that went viral in the year 2015 were those speaking of the horrid and devastating events that outlined the year. Due to various reasons, the world went through quite the hassle in this year and many were lost. While most may agree that this year may have been unfortunate and a dark spot on the human run, it still had its bright side. In fact, below are seven things that saved 2015 from falling fully into the dark side of history.

1. The year witnessed an upraise in the humanity of people that found various ways to stand in solidarity with people in need. There have been many acts of donations for those who are deprived.

A picture of a Palestinian refugee from Syria selling pens in the street of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, as he held his daughter above his shoulder, went viral inspiring a very successful donations campaign. After viewing the heart wrenching scene, Gissur Simonarson, an Icelandic journalist and activist, decided to find the man and help. The "Help Abdul and Reem start a new life" campaign has raised $130,000 for Abdul Halim Attar and his family helping him support them.

2. Though hunted by the hatred of the few, 2015 had a high concentration of love in the face of all odds.

The world was faced by the challenge of hatred and repulsion after the terrorist attacks that left various countries grieving. Some people took on the challenge with their hearts wide open. Four young best friends stood tall hand in hand in the subway in Montreal Canada with one message to deliver. #loveoverfear

Their actions left many in awe and tears. Kudos and thank you gentleman.

3. The world had a break through when it finally decided that everyone is capable of doing great things regardless of their special conditions. Sometimes it is our differences that makes us great.

Actress Jamie Brewer appeared on a catwalk during New York Fashion Week. Brewer's appearance is the first of its kind when it comes to someone with down syndrome. Brewer's clothes were designed by designer Carrie Hammer as part of his "Role Models Not Runway Models" show. Way to go!

4. Though flawed and still primal, the climate change deal is a good first step towards a hopefully better future.

After long negotiations and a distressful reality shock of the consequences of this ongoing assault on nature, a climate deal was signed by nearly 200 countries in Paris. Though the deal is still not complete and targets sides of the issue, it is a remarkable step for the world in a direction we all want to head in.

5. The year also witnessed a steady improvement in science specifically medicine. #Nothinginsimpossible

Swedish doctors have had a breakthrough in surgery. Nine women had a successful womb transplant. The world of science and medicine has been using organs transplants for years now. The addition of uterus and wombs transplants can prove a hopeful alternative and solution for many families that have lost their chance at the joy of children.

6. Another achievement for 2015 is the defeat of Ebola in its match against Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone is a country in west Africa that has been officially declared clear of Ebola. The country that was once plagued by the disease is now cleared from it and the ban on its participation in athletic events has been lifted. The country is preparing to host matches as well as work towards qualifying for the 2017 African cup.

7. Just because I am a nerd too! 2015 was the platform for the return of the one and only star wars. #StarWarsTheForceAwakens

Let's Fan girl now shall we?

Through all the sorrow, something always prevails. We haven't fully lost the battle yet.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
