1. Life is a game.

You should know that in life, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. That’s just how it goes. So, if you're unhappy with how things are going, don't be afraid to reset and restart the game. Be a sport and play wisely.

2. No move is the wrong move.

Don’t be afraid to try out new things. If it’s out of your comfort zone, it means you’re being brave. Who cares if you make mistakes? You’ll never know if you’re the next Picasso if you’ve never painted before. Remember: Just keep moving. If you make a wrong turn, then just make another turn or a u-turn until you get to your destination. Staying idle gets you nowhere.

3. Mistakes will be forgotten.

Remember that time when you accidentally “liked” a picture of the person you’re stalking on Facebook? Does that person still care? Didn’t think so. Mistakes are forgotten and learned from. So, keep making them and be careful when you’re scrolling next time.

4. Filter what others say.

Listen to what people say, but don’t take everything in. You can’t just listen to what you want to hear and zone everyone else out; that’s selective bias. You don’t need to agree with their opinions either, but understanding where they’re coming from can give you a different perspective of the world.

5. Travel now before establishing a career.

The order of things is usually to find the career path as soon as you can; but, be aware that when you find the job you wouldn’t want to lose, it’ll be hard to travel. Earn money and travel while you’re young. Then, slave away for your entire life.

6. Money comes and goes.

Money is meant to be circulated amongst society. You earn; you buy. Don’t be too disheartened when your bank account has no number other than zeroes. Find a way to get money, and please learn how to budget.

7. Stop doubting yourself.

Believe in yourself that you are an expert at a young age. You know what you’re doing with your life because that is your life after all.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
