It's been over 10 years since the Troy University men's basketball team has made an appearance in the NCAA tournament. But on March 17th at 7:20 PM in Greenville SC, the Trojans hit the court against Duke and held their own for a while. Here's what happened the minute Troy University made it into the March Madness brackets. And here's what the world (and Jimmy Fallon) didn't see coming:

1. We were given an inaccurate shout out on Jimmy Fallon's tonight show.

We don't get mentioned until 0:35 seconds, but I'm pretty sure it's safe to say we surprised not only Jimmy Fallon, but all those that watched when we fought against Duke on the court and proved that the game was more than just "two white boys fighting."

2. Shortly after Jimmy Fallon asked who goes to Troy, Troy alumni Demarcus Ware replied to him.

3. Not long after Demarcus Ware's post, #IgotoTroy trended on Twitter.

You could say this year's been a hit twitter wise for Troy University...we've managed to trend a number of times. And we're just some "small school in the south".

4. Troy students drove 5 hours to remain on their feet and yelling the entire game.


5. Our bench made it on the Bleacher Report for best bench celebration after Wesley Person stunned the crowds and dunked on Duke.

6. Duke's Coach K approached Wesley Person and Jordan Varnado after the game.

"To be champions is something special. We played well because you played well."


7. We showed up and surprised everyone.

Didn't know Troy existed? Now you do. Didn't know we're a force to be reckoned with? Now you do. Didn't know we take pride in our school and name? Now you know. Cause WE go to Troy. And WE love Troy. One school, one family, one Troy.
